ERAU ROTC Classroom Building

The Embry Riddle Aeronautical University ROTC Classroom Building is a single-story classroom and office building for the Air Force and Army ROTC programs.

ROTC comprises approximately 20% of the Embry Riddle Aeronautical University population

ROTC comprises approximately 20% of the ERAU student population – a significantly higher percentage than most universities. As a result, the university desired a building to reflect the ROTC’s presence on campus and upgrade their current highly deteriorating metal building structure. The project is sited on a gently sloping hill between the academic buildings and athletic fields. This location offered an opportunity to exploit not only the convenient physical location, but also the metaphor of ROTC programs requiring both physical and mental strength.

Contrasting themes reflect tradition vs technology, nestling into the earth vs expanding toward the sky and physical strength vs mental flexibility

Throughout the project we balanced contrasting themes of tradition / technology, nestling into the earth / expanding towards the sky, and physical strength / mental flexibility.
